> Half Brother to Private Steer foaled  this morning - 22/08/07

An eagerly awaited half brother to champion mare Private Steer was born at Reavill Farm this morning.  Out of Lisheenowen, a recent purchase at this year's Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale, the bay colt is by champion sire Encosta de Lago.  Lisheenowen's 2003 foal is smart Belong to Me gelding, All Silent who recently made it two for two when he won the Class Three event over 1400 metres at Rosehill on Saturday.

>> excellent  WEEKEND RESULTS FOR REAVILL PROGENY - 20/08/07

Reavill Farm progeny enjoyed a great weekend of racing when All Silent (Belong to Me (USA) x Lisheenowen) made it two wins from as many starts winning the Class Three event over 1400 metres at Rosehill on Saturday.  Trained by Graeme Begg, the talented gelding, a half-brother to champion mare Private Steer, powered to the line from stone last, cruising to the lead to win by a long neck in an eye-catching performance.  All Silent is the fifth foal of Reavill Farm mare Lisheenowen (Semipalatinsk (USA) x Irish Quill) who is due to foal down to Encosta de Lago any day now.

In Sale yesterday, Benacus, a smart Galileo gelding out of Reavill Farm mare Ida Pine (Pine Bluff x Ida's Image) took out the Wellington Visitor Centre Maiden over 1413m in what was only his second start.  With a second placing in his first start the gelding looks to be doing everything right and we look forward to following his progress.  Ida Pine is due to foal down to Dehere this week.

>> Vintage Rocks for Barbara Joseph 29/07/07
3yo filly Vintage Rock (Thunder Gulch x Rock Review) put in a commanding performance to record the first win of her career in the Maiden Handicap over 1080m at Canberra on Sunday. Having her first run back from a spell the filly jumped well and settled towards the tail end of the field.  With the pressure well and truly on at the home turn, jockey Peter Robl asked for a little bit more and the filly instantly put herself into the picture.  As they straightened for the run to the line Vintage Rock worked her way up to the lead and held her rivals at bay to win by a safe distance of two lengths.

Vintage Rock is a half sister to Rock Revival (Flying Spur x Rock Review) who was also trained by Barbara Joseph.  Rock Revival won seven races and over $160,000 in prizemoney. The dam of both fillies, Rock Review, will foal down to Oratorio this season.

>> ALL Silent wins at RANDWICK

An impressive near last to first performance by All Silent (Belong To Me - Lisheenowen) left the bookies cheering at Randwick yesterday. The half brother to multiple group one winning mare Private Steer was friendless in the betting ring but showed plenty of determination on the track to win by 1/2 a length on debut. The Graham Begg trained three year old is the fifth foal of Reavill Farm mare Lisheenowen, one of the latest additions to the farm's broodmare band. Lisheenowen is now less than a fortnight away from foaling down for 2007, with the farm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the foal by leading stallion Encosta de Lago.

>> ANAMATO THIRD IN AMERICAN OAKS

An excellent ride coupled with an outstanding performance from the David Hayes trained Anamato (Redoute’s Choice x Voltage) led to a third placing in the Grade 1 American Oaks (2000m), held at Hollywood Park over the weekend. It has been well documented that the talented filly hadn’t travelled well, adding even more merit to the performance. Anamato jumped well and settled one off the fence in fifth position, stalking eventual winner Panty Raid from the Todd Pletcher stable. Forced to fan wide around the final turn, Anamato hung out and was slightly impeded midway up the straight, which in hindsight may have cost her the race.

Anamato’s dam; Voltage is creating quite a dynasty for herself. Aside from Anamato, Voltage has produced two other stakes winners including the group one winner Drum (Group 1 Oakleigh Plate) and Port Watch (Listed  Macdonald Stakes, 2nd Group 1 Caulfield Guineas). Daughters of Voltage are also doing the job at stud having produced the likes of seven time group one winner Grand Armee (Hennessy x Tambour) and Mearas (Redoute’s Choice x Eldarin). Hong Kong sprinting superstar Absolute Champion (Marauding x Beauty Belle) is also prominent in the pedigree being closely related to Reavill Farm mare Volte (Marauding x Voltage), who after a successful mating with Redoute’s Choice last season is due to foal down in August.

>> Anamato set to take Hollywood by storm

The David Hayes trained Anamato (Redoute’s Choice - Voltage) is set to take on some of the best fillies in the world ahead of her start in the Grade 1 American Oaks (2000m), which will be run at Hollywood Park over the weekend.  The talented filly has been causing quite a stir in the USA with some of the locals not accustomed to the way Australian horses typically prepare for big races. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice and outstanding producer Voltage, was an outstanding last start victor in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) and will take on a host of talented gallopers from right around the Globe including Japan, Ireland, France and of course the USA.

Anamato is a half sister to Reavill Farm resident Volte (Marauding - Voltage). Come August, the farm will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of Volte’s 2007 foal by Redoute’s Choice, a mating that has already validated itself with likes of the aforementioned Anamato and the promising colt Mearas, who is out of a full sister to Volte.

In only her second start, three year old filly The Baroness (Verdict Declared x Viscount) broke her maiden status in the Home Loan Centre Maiden Handicap over 1080m at Canberra today. Ridden by apprentice Tye Angland for trainer Barbara Joseph the filly travelled well and responded beautifully when asked in the straight to go on and win by a short neck over favourite Friday Blues. The Baronness is out of Reavill Farm mare Verdict Declared and it's a family that has given Joseph Racing plenty of success.  Barbara not only trained Verdict Declared winning ten races, two listed, she is also currently training A Country Girl (Singspiel x Verdict Declared), a talented young mare who recently won the Group 3 Millie Fox Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill in March of this year.  We wish Barbara and all at Joseph Racing continued success with both horses from this great performing family.

Anamato is a half sister to Reavill Farm mare Volte (Marauding x Voltage) whose Easter yearling by Fusaichi Pegasus was knocked down to the astute bloodstock agent James Bester.  We wish James the very best of luck with this lovely colt.

>> 2007 AUSTRALIAN EASTER YEARLING SALE

>> A Group 3 Win for A Country Girl - 24/2/07

The talented Barbara Joseph trained mare, A Country Girl (Singspiel (IRE) x Verdict Declared)  earned herself some much deserved black type by taking out the Millie Fox Stakes at Group 3 level over 1300m at Rosehill on Saturday.  Ridden by Zac Purton, A Country Girl ran down Group 1 and multiple Group and Listed winner, Regal Cheer, Group placed and favourite in the race, Spinner's Magic and in a fabulous final effort just on the line, multiple Group and Listed winner, Pasikatera.

With Zac Purton aboard, Rock Revival was positioned just off the speed but was forced to sit wide the entire trip without cover. Approaching the 150mtrs the Flying Spur mare kicked away from the early pacesetters and was left to stave off a late challenge from pre-post favourite Jack's Girl.
