The Farm is
located about an hour from Sydney at Freemans Reach in New South
Wales, Australia. The property consists of around 200 acres –
partly on fertile, irrigated flood plain adjacent to the Hawkesbury
River and partly in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The varied
landscape provides conditions to cater for all stages of
thoroughbred development.
The Farm was
developed by founders (and owners) John and Sheenah Rippon, who have
been breeding thoroughbreds for around 18 years, gradually
increasing the quality of their broodmare band. John, who is
Managing Director of the operation, is also a civil engineer and CEO
of RHIC, a major infrastructure provider.
At any one time, the Farm runs
between forty to fifty broodmares, producing yearlings to sell at
the top Australian yearling auctions (in January at Magic Millions
and in April at the Inglis Easter Sale). The mares are kept in a
"closed herd" and are walked onto studs in the Hunter Valley and
elsewhere.
Reavill Farm prides itself on
achieving exceptional results by utilising high quality staff and
expert advice, while being uncompromising in relation to matters of
care, safety and nutrition.
